"Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor quick look.
We're going to break with tradition a little bit here and take a look at several products in one video, which means that we're going to keep it light."
"But that does not mean that it's not exciting, because if you take a look at here, you'll probably recognize this little logo here as something from Elgato.
And you might also recognize that it is white, whereas Elgato products usually are black.
And while we are dealing a bit with stereotypes here, it is a quite an apt sort of distinction between what they normally do and what this is."
"This is called the Neo series.
And if you go to the Neo series product page, they have one overview page, kind of like what we're doing here.
It seems very clear that what Elgato is aiming at is gaining a foothold in another part of our digital lives, which is bereft with this kind of technology, which is like meetings, Zoom calls, basically just all of the other stuff that we would normally do, which is not necessarily gaming and streaming and game capturing at the same time."
"Now there is a capture card here, mind you, and there is a webcam and a microphone and a stream deck or something akin to a stream deck.
So there are all of the basic things that you'd need in order to start streaming.
So you set up your key light, you capture your gameplay while it is that you're playing, you have your stream deck for your emotes and all of that stuff."
"You have a fine little microphone and you have a good face cam-ish webcam while you do it.
So, but the white aesthetic, the hero shots that have been taken by Elgato, it all makes sense in terms of getting, again, gaining a foothold at a much more nuanced and light audience rather than the ones that really want to heavily invest in the Elgato ecosystem with a stream deck plus, you know, like again, like this, this is a much more like dedicated piece of gear, whereas this is what they want to hook you with when you just want to do some Zoom calls, maybe a bit of gaming on the side."
"It's all about, you know, offering something at different tiers of both the pricing ladder, but also this seriousness ladder, essentially.
So what are they claiming?
They, well, the point is that while you do, while they do recommend that you download dedicated Elgato software and something like OBS studio, whatever, it's marketed as being completely plug and play, which means that you put in your ring light and all of these things have physical controls on them to help you get going."
"Not the game capture card, obviously there, you will need some kind of software.
But for instance, the, the, the key light is very much meant to be a plug and play kind of solution, which I think is awesome.
So you get, you have a webcam over here, which is 1080p at 60 frames per second, which is fine."
"Game capture is the same 1080p at 60 frames per second, but there's pass through at 4k 60fps HDR, which is fine, which means you won't compromise on your own experience when you're playing.
And you could get this."
"I think I saw a bundle that's like $400, which is not that much considering that you get all you need in one fell swoop here.
Even the packaging, which is why we included it over here is a lot more subdued and subtle.
And I do think that it kind of fits a broader strategy by Elgato to basically make sure that this is as approachable as you can have the images focus on zoom calls."
"Have there be these big bulky sort of, well, there is on the other, such as the, the light Neo here.
They've made sure to put the made for iPhone, iPad, iPod stuff on there.
It's meant to entice you, even if you don't need the serious equipment and by all accounts, they've probably succeeded."
