It's that exciting time of the year.
We've already taken a look at the brand new Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but Google has launched their most ambitious slate of Pixel products ever, and that includes much more than the three we've already taken a look at."
"This is the brand new Pixel Watch 3, and I've been using it as my daily smartwatch driver for weeks.
I've been talking about it for a long time, which does speak volumes, I would say, about the overall confidence of Google in this smartwatch, and there's a couple of reasons why."
"For one, they're finally offering it in a 45mm.
I think last time around with both the Pixel Watch and the Pixel Watch 2, they only offered it in 41mm in this kind of riverstone-like format, meaning that it was just tiny on a wrist like mine, but now it fits and it works well."
"But the problem is that with a Google Pixel Watch, you're really out of newsworthy things to say about it.
It runs Wear OS 5, and it runs it well.
It has the Google Assistant, it has the Google Feed, it has Google Home controls, it has a really streamlined Pixel Watch app on your Android phone of choice."
"It has proprietary bands, which is not that good.
I would have preferred to have standard either 20mm or 22mm lugs, meaning that you could use all of the bands that you probably already have.
It has a rotating crown, which works well."
"It has the Snapdragon SW5100, as well as 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which works as well.
It comes with both Wi-Fi and eSIM versions, which is also good.
But apart from that, the Pixel Watch is really like a workman-like watch.
It does what Wear OS does, and it does it probably better, probably alongside something like the TicWatch Pro and the OnePlus Watch as well."
"But apart from that, you get what you expect.
It runs Wear OS and runs it pretty nicely.
It's 40mm case size, meaning that it has enough battery for like a day and a half's worth of usage."
"And the LTPO AMOLED 1.4-inch display, which is 456x456, is crystal clear.
There is a couple of things that I just wanted to mention, which I do think disappoints me a little bit.
The battery life could be better."
"That's one.
It has IP68 dust and water resistance, as well as a 5ATM atmospheric pressure thing if you want to go swimming with it, which is fine.
But the glass itself, this is Corning Gorilla Glass 5, I believe, which is okay."
"But this is not sapphire crystal like you get on other expensive smartwatches, meaning that this will probably still scratch.
That's what domed sapphire crystal can do in something like Huawei uses and the Apple Watch Ultra."
"So I'm really looking forward to Google to sort of further honing their smartwatch craft and ultimately coming up with a Google Pixel Watch Ultra or Pro or whatever.
I think that would be very interesting.
But for now, particularly if you have bigger wrists, this is good."
"Google needs to do more, but it's good enough for sure.
