"Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of GRTV News.
Today I'm going to be talking about something that's very exciting to me, especially for someone that has sort of followed this show ever since its inception, and that is Peaky Blinders."
"Now we know that it's done with its sort of terrestrial TV series format.
There won't be any further series or any further seasons of Peaky Blinders, but there will be one final bit of content, shall we say, that's coming out that will end this story, and that's going to be a film."
"Now we've known that it's in the works for a while.
The creator of the show, the writer of the show, Stephen Knight, has been very vocal about staying in that and keeping us updated on the script and whatnot, and that's sort of wrapped up as of late with various appearances over the last couple of months from Stephen Knight where he's talked about the state of the script and the fact that they're going to be filming in the autumn and it's going to be coming out on BBC and it's going to be coming to various other things and whatnot, and Cillian Murphy's going to be back."
"Well, now we have a further confirmation, and this seems to be a pretty exciting one as that, and it shows just how popular this drama series has become as well.
So let's take a look.
So yeah, Netflix confirms Peaky Blinders film with Cillian Murphy, but when will it premiere on the streaming service?
So Stephen Knight has kept reiterating that a Peaky Blinders film will happen so many times through the years that it almost started to just sound like wishful thinking."
"Fortunately, it seems far more real now.
Netflix confirms that the streaming giant is making a Peaky Blinders film and that Cillian Murphy returns as Thomas Shelby.
He's not the only one from the original crew that comes back, as we're also told Stephen Knight has written the script and that Tom Harper will direct it."
"This does hopefully mean that the filming will start as planned in September, which opens the door for a premiere in late 2025 or 2026.
So yes, Netflix has officially sort of announced that this is going to be happening, that this is going to be the case, that we can expect a Peaky Blinders film to come out at some point in the future."
"Again, they haven't actually said any release date, but Stephen Knight has iterated multiple times that the shooting, that the production for this film will begin in the autumn.
And again, because it's a period drama, right?
There won't be a huge amount of special effects to use, you wouldn't have thought."
"It's going to be a lot of sort of, well, real effects if there's any effects needed, I guess mainly in sort of explosives and gunfights and stuff like that.
So you would think that once the production has finished, once the filming has taken place, that it won't be too far down the line before this film is actually ready to be put out in the hands of fans."
"But again, we'll know more soon.
No doubt there'll be plenty of information coming about this film once it actually officially enters production at the rumoured point of this autumn.
But again, as we know more, be sure to keep posted and updated."
"Until then, this is actually all the time I have on today's episode of GRTV News.
This could be my last one for a little while as well.
So stay tuned, keep up to date with Alex's ones in the afternoon.
And otherwise, I'll see you in ten, two weeks, two and a half weeks or something like that when I'm back from LA from Summer Game Fest."
"And yeah, we can pick up and talk about some more exciting news beats.
So until then, hope you enjoy the rest of your Wednesday.
And yeah, I'll see you on the next GRTV News down the line.
Take care, everyone."
